Welcome!
If there is one thing in the world that I can't get enough of, it would be movies. Not just any movie. I'm a big fan of Sci-Fi, Horror, Medieval Epics, Fantasy, and any "B Drive Inn Movie" of any of the above genres. Another thing that I'm becoming a big fan of is video shorts that are produced for the internet. I'm not going to critique or rate any of the movies or shorts that I'm going to blog about for if they are on here, I already like them. I will mention why I like them, but for a short answer, there are not many movies that I dislike. When I go to a movie, I go with the mindset that I want to be entertained for a short time, and very rarely am I not.
R'ha (2013) Aliens VS Machines animated short.
This is an amazing short animated film. Kaleb Lechowski wrote, animated, storyboarded, well literally did all of the work for R'ha himself. His work isn't going unnoticed either, for Star Wars producer Rick McCallum is adapting R'ha for the big screen with Kaleb Lechowski directing. Can't wait.
What I like about the short is the absence of humans. Only an Alien being held captive and a sentient machine interrogating/torturing the alien. It will be interesting to see if the movie goers will empathize with a non-human character.
Abe (2013), by Rob McLellan
Abe is as much a psychological thriller as it is a futuristic Sci-Fi. What would you do if you were programmed to love and put into a position of servitude under those whom you love? What would you do after those that you love become distrusting of you and don't reciprocate that love? And you aren't programmed with the Arthur C. Clarke's Three Laws of Robotics (There's no mention of those laws in this short). Abe answers those questions in an eerie calculating sort or way.
The Raven (2010), by Ricardo de Montreuil
With robotic spying roaches, flying armed police drones with female voices, Star Wars-esque walking tanks, and hovering motherships all persuing our hero who does parkour and has telekinetic powers--what's not to like?
